Seasonal color analysis: explore the 12-season system

A guide to warmth, depth and clarity, with practical comparisons.

Start with three dimensions

Warmth describes a warm or cool color direction. Depth describes light to deep appearance. Clarity describes muted to clear color. These dimensions are styling comparisons, not exact measurements from a selfie. Lighting and camera processing can change how each appears.

The twelve palettes

| Family | Palette | Direction to explore | | ------ | --------------------------------------- | ----------------------------- | | Spring | Light Spring | Warm, light color | | Spring | True Spring | Warm, clear color | | Spring | Bright Spring | Clear color with warm accents | | Summer | Light Summer | Cool, light color | | Summer | True Summer | Cool, gentle color | | Summer | Soft Summer | Cool-leaning, muted color | | Autumn | Soft Autumn | Warm-leaning, muted color | | Autumn | True Autumn | Warm, rich color | | Autumn | Deep Autumn | Deep color with warmth | | Winter | Deep Winter | Deep color with cool contrast | | Winter | True Winter | Cool, clear contrast | | Winter | Bright Winter | Clear, cool-leaning color |

Choose your starting point

Upload a selfie if you want a visual-model reference and are comfortable with the photo policy. Prefer to keep photos private? Take the questionnaire. The quiz runs on your answers rather than sending a photo to a model.

Compare in real life

Use two tops or pieces of fabric under the same indirect daylight. Keep your position, makeup and camera settings consistent. First compare light and deep, then warm and cool, then soft and clear. Avoid changing every variable at once. Your own preferences matter; the exercise is not a laboratory test.

Common sources of confusion

Vein appearance and jewelry preference alone do not establish a season. Dyed hair may differ from natural roots. Heavy makeup, beauty filters and strongly colored surroundings can change visible color. Two nearby seasons may share useful ideas, such as Light Summer and Soft Summer.

What about 16 seasons?

This product uses twelve named palettes. Other systems divide and name the categories differently, so labels are not automatically interchangeable. More labels do not prove a more accurate assessment. We do not offer a separate 16-season result.

Apply the result

Begin with three wardrobe combinations, then try makeup color directions. If exploring a new hair color, use previews and practical consultation before committing. A palette is useful only when it helps you make a choice you enjoy.

Questions and limitations

These ideas can be explored across skin depths and personal styles, but a season label alone cannot prescribe makeup intensity or establish a person's undertone. There is no validated accuracy percentage here. Read How it works, FAQ or why results change.
